Google Search Console is a free tool/webservice provided by Google which allows webmasters to check indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites. It helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your site's presence in Google Search results. Until May 20, 2015 the name for Search Console was Google Webmaster Tools. Even if the site is not verified in Search Console, it can be ranked in Google, but there are several benefits the site would receive if it is verified under Google Search Console.
If we use Search Console:
- We can add convenient country settings
- Google can find the defects in our website and solve it
- There are numerous defects found in the website while its crawled by Google. Defects like
- Loading Problems
- Device Compatibility Issues
- Broken Links
- And other defects like duplication of meta description, exceeding meta description length etc.,
Such issues can negatively affect the ranking of the website. When Search Console is used, such defects are found and Google provides solutions for the same. It is important for a website to get better ranking in Google and Search Console helps you with the same.
Google Search Console notifies in case there is any defect in the website and therefore the webmaster can make due changes in the same to avoid the website ranking to go down.
